Short background on Vietnam war:
Vietnam was a colony of France from late 18th century. it saw turn of powers and invasion of nations thorough. Japanese invaded and following end of world war 2 japan collapsed and surrendered leading to rise of HO-CHI-MINH and the communist rule in north. In south it was a french led government later an independent government supported by america.
Following Korean war and cold war, unrest broke into war between the communist supported north led by ho-chi-min and US led south. the war took sever toll and continued for years before unrest in america over their huge losses forced them to withdraw.
THE WAR WAS FOUGHT BETWEEN NORTH VIETNAMESE COMMUNIST ARMY SUPPORTED BY CHINA AND RUSSIA WITH A ALLY IN SOUTH VIETNAM - THE VIET CONG ( A SMALL REBEL GROUP AGAINST ANTI COMMUNIST IN SOUTH VIETNAM) AND THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE ANTI COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT BACKED MAINLY BY THE US
Finally the northern army and the viet cong a south vietnamese rebellion force together overtook saigon and took control of the entire vietnam.
